KYZEN is pleased to announce that Debbie Carboni will present at the IMAPS METRO Chapter Full Day Symposium and Vendor Night, scheduled to take place Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the Clarion (former Holiday Inn) in Ronkonkoma, New York. Carboni will present the paper entitled, “Advanced Packaging Cleaning Fluid Best Practice.”
As modern electronics decrease in size, one of the major challenges in terms of the cleaning solutions effectiveness is the ability to remove residues under bottom terminations while not damaging components and exposed metals. Ineffectiveness in removing surface flux residues under bottom terminations can lead to unwanted contamination, poor yield and reliability issues in the field.
The flux composition within the solder paste is critical in enabling high solderability yields. With decreased pitch and higher numbers of interconnects, flux compositions must be able to remove surface oxidation and not break down during the reflow soldering process. From a cleaning perspective, there are a number of complex issues such as harder to clean flux residues, flux trapped under bottom terminations and different surface metals that may react with the cleaning solution.
To address these complex issues, improved cleaning agent designs are needed to more effectively clean today’s flux residues, penetrate and wet under bottom termination components and not materially attack exposed metals. The purpose of this research is to compare the metals compatibility and effectiveness of enhanced cleaning fluids over traditional cleaning fluids for cleaning modern electronics.
Carboni joined KYZEN in 2007 as a Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager. A 15-year veteran of the precision cleaning industry, her primary expertise is in the cleaning sector of the electronics industry. Recognizing Carboni’s talents and expertise, KYZEN soon named her North American Sales Manager for its Electronics Division. Carboni serves as an active member of the SMTA Philadelphia Chapter. She actively contributes as an author of technical papers that focus on precision cleaning and wave soldering and presents at various forums and workshops across North America. Carboni brings a unique understanding of cleaning equipment and processes, making her a valuable resource for addressing emerging cleaning challenges.
