Indium Corporation’s Andreas Karch, regional technical manager and technologist – advanced applications, will present on thermal management at EPP’s specialist forum: LED Meets SMT.Karch will present at 3:15 p.m. (Germany) on Oct. 21in Regensburg, Germany.
Optimal temperature windows are becoming increasingly important for the long-term reliable operation of current LED components. This applies both to temperature ranges during the processing of SMT LEDs and to their operation in the application environment. Therefore, thermal management in the reflow soldering process and in the continuous or boost operation of LED components is increasingly becoming the focus of users.
In Material Technologies for Thermal Management of LEDs, Karch will examine innovations in the field of soldermaterial technology which enable users to insert SMT LEDs in the optimum temperature range both during processing and during operation of the components. Two of Indium Corporation’s material technologies are particularly effective here: new composite solder alloys – such as Durafuse™ LT – and coated solder materials –including LV2K.
Karch provides technical support on solder paste and preforms, fluxes, and thermal management materialsto Indium Corporation’s customers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Karch has more than 20 years of automotive industry experience in PCB and power electronics, including the advanced development of customized electronics. He received an award for developing one of the top 10 innovative patents for automotive LED assembly. Karch is an ECQA-certified integrated design engineer and holds a Six Sigma Yellow Belt. LED Meets SMT 2021 will focus on the processing of LEDs in electronics/SMT manufacturing. The main topics include the challenge of chip size package/MiniLEDs, intelligent LEDs with integrated control ICs, high-power LEDs in headlamps, and manufacturing technology at the highest level or mastered manufacturing processes. Discussions will include the overall trend of miniaturization combined with higher performance creating increased requirements within the entire process (technology, staff knowledge, etc.).
