News Release
AMT Corp., St. Petersburg, FL --- 4:00 PM October 17, 2002
John Stimadorakis, President of AMT Corp., announced today that the company is changing the meaning of the acronym in their name to better represent their mission.
Mr. Stimadorakis stated, "It's no longer about who has the fastest pick an place machine or who has the latest and greatest automatic inspection station. It's who can operate most efficiently and react the fastest. Collaborating across an extended enterprise on a global basis is the challenge that must be met by today's manufacturing, supply chain and management teams. Just accumulating hundreds of tera-bites of data into a data warehouse does not yield results. Getting real-time or near real-time Actionable information in the hands of decision-makers at all levels will make a difference.
Over the years, AMT has worked with manufacturers, suppliers and vendors to develop tools and processes needed to bridge the information and technology gaps in the design to manufacturing (D2B) processes. In recent years, the majority of our projects have been developing collaborative processes to increase productivity and profitability. Because of the emergence and convergence of new technologies, the industry now has the tools needed to make unprecedented advances in enterprise productivity.
With the new horizons appearing in the industry, we thought it would be appropriate that the meaning of the acronym AMT change from Advanced Manufacturing Technologies to Adaptive Manufacturing Technologies. The new definition of AMT better represents our business of assisting companies implement the Adaptive Enterprise, Collaborative Process Business Model."
