Aqueous Technologies Corp., North America’s largest provider of batch defluxing systems, will showcase three industry favorites: the new Typhoon, the Trident XLD and the Zero-Ion at the upcoming SMTA 16th Annual Atlanta Expo & Tech Forum, scheduled to take place Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Gwinnett Civic Center in Duluth, GA.

The Typhoon is the industry’s newest, most advanced inline cleaning and defluxing system. It contains numerous performance and safety features not available on any other inline cleaning system.  The Typhoon-WS is capable of removing all water soluble (OA) flux residues from post-reflow circuit assemblies. Unlike other machines, Typhoon features two high-performance/high efficiency stainless steel spray pumps that deliver impressive flow and pressure ratings. One pump is dedicated for wash and the other for rinse. The use of two pumps allows for maximum performance in each of the cleaning zones.

The machine also is equipped with the industry’s only rotating airknife. The turbine-powered airknife provides a greater effective drying area than fixed-position airknifes. The Typhoon is equipped with unique “run-dry” heaters for the ultimate in safety. Unlike conventional heaters, the Typhoon’s heaters are fully capable of run-dry operation. The Typhoon is equipped with a fully digital control panel featuring eight digital pressure gauges, digital wash and rinse temperature controllers, and a digital conveyor speed controller. With the largest windows in the industry, an operator has complete visibility of assemblies as they are washed, rinsed and dried in the industry’s most advanced and safest inline cleaning/defluxing system.

The Trident XLD is the industry’s most environmentally responsible fully automated defluxing and cleanliness testing system. Unlike other closed-loop defluxing systems, the XLD is capable of removing all flux types including no-clean, rosin and water soluble. The Trident XLD also is capable of operating with a variety of environmentally safe defluxing chemistries frequently required for specific types of flux removal. The Trident XLD provides automatic cleaning, cleanliness testing, drying, chemical dosing and complete assembly-specific SPC via bar-code scanning, and operates without sending any water to the drain.

The Trident XLD’s average total cycle time is less than 30 minutes, making it the fastest fully automatic defluxing system available. The system can clean one month’s worth of production while consuming less than ten gallons (38 liters) of water, all of which is lost to normal evaporation.

The Zero-Ion is designed to test electronics assemblies for ionic contamination. It automatically removes and detects contamination on an electrical assembly or bare board and provides quantitative contamination measurements. The cleanliness tester uses a dynamic technology that provides automatic regeneration of the machine’s test solution, maintaining a high degree of test solution sensitivity. The Zero-Ion meets the requirements of military and commercial cleanliness testing standards including MIL 2000A, IPC test method 001, MIL-C-28809, MIL-P-55110 and IPC TM650-2.3.26.
