Aqueous Technologies Corp., North America's largest provider of batch defluxing systems, recently sold a Trident Duo High-Yield Automatic Defluxing and Cleanliness Testing System to Rocket EMS, a technology leader in engineering, prototyping and NPI time-to-market solutions.

In today's dynamic OEM environment, smaller tier EMS suppliers are driven to produce incredible quality and cost results. Smaller footprint, higher yield, better throughput, increased flexibility, speed and cost are major concerns for today’s cost-conscious customers. "When we set out to redefine our cleaning technology needs, we searched up and down the vendor list. When we finally tested and accepted Aqueous Technologies’ Trident Duo, our team was pleasantly surprised and the results were astonishing. We are excited and believe partnering with Aqueous Technologies is making Rocket Science," stated Michael Kottke, President & CEO of Rocket EMS.

Rocket EMS uses the customer assembly-specific recipes to design wash processes that best fit the specific requirements of each assembly. The system enables Rocket EMS to provide real-time cleanliness testing and final rinse SPC data to its customers, as well as the ability to clean no-clean when required. As an additional benefit, the system helps the company reduce the amount of volatile carbons released in the selective solder process.

"The Trident Duo is highly flexible with a reduced footprint compared to inline cleaners. It is faster, quieter, cleaner and reduces our overall carbon footprint by as much as 70 percent. These are clear differentiators. Even more incredible is the overall cost advantage. The Trident Duo is a remarkable game changer," continued Kottke.

The Trident Duo provides a cost-effective alternative to inline defluxing systems. While most inline defluxing systems consume and discharge as much as 5 gallons (19 liters) of deionized water per minute, Trident high-yield defluxing systems use between 0.5-2 gallons (1.8-7.5 liters) per minute, a reduction of up to 60 percent.

The Trident Duo features two autonomous defluxing chambers. Each chamber is controlled by a dedicated computer controller and may be operated with different defluxing chemistries for maximum flexibility. Additionally, each defluxing chamber is equipped with independent cleanliness testing capabilities and recallable SPC data records. Unlike other inline defluxing systems, the Trident Duo is capable of high throughput levels and built-in cleanliness testing.
