Oct 28, 2011 After economic setbacks in 2009, the world market for electronics manufacturing services (EMS) returned to growth in 2010, according to a study released by IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries®. The global EMS study, 2010-2011 Analysis and Forecast for the EMS Industry, presents data and analysis on the EMS industry, examining critical trends and providing forecasts and potential for market expansion.
The EMS market is projected to grow 14.8 percent globally and 10.2 percent in North America this year. The study includes forecasts through 2015, provided by New Venture Research Corp. (NVR).
The study reveals a reduction in spending on automated assembly equipment this year compared to 2010, but an increase in capital equipment spending overall in North America. The study shows actual 2010 and estimated 2011 spending on specific equipment types by the aggregated sample of participating EMS companies.
The study includes general business metrics on the sample of 90 EMS operations that participated in the annual survey by region, including North America, Europe and Asia. The study also examines trends in market size, sources of revenue, revenue per employee, services offered, markets served, customer relationship metrics, manufacturing technology, and spending on equipment and materials. In addition, the study shows the breakdown of sales to eight major end markets by region.
