MacDermid and Northrop Grumman Reach 50-year Anniversary Milestone with IPC

Aug 23, 2012

Joining the illustrious ranks of only three other companies, MacDermid, Inc. and Northrop Grumman are celebrating 50-year membership anniversaries with IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries®. Both companies were feted at IPC Midwest Conference & Exhibition on August 22, 2012.

To help pass on the spirit of innovation to the industry’s next generation, each company designated a college or scholarship program to which IPC will make a $1,500 donation in their honor. Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems has been a long-time sponsor of the Technology & Innovation in Manufacturing & Engineering (TIME) Center at the Community College of Baltimore County in Catonsville, Maryland and chose the Center as its designee. MacDermid, Inc. selected the Harold Leever Scholarship fund, the company’s internal program that helps MacDermid employees worldwide with college expenses.

During the awards ceremony, IPC President and CEO John Mitchell remarked on the companies’ milestones, “As you know, nothing in our industry ever stays the same. And, when you think of all of the changes in our industry, it really is a tribute to these companies and to IPC that our relationship has stayed so strong. We wish MacDermid, Inc. and Northrop Grumman a happy 50th IPC membership anniversary and salute two amazing pioneers who helped drive our industry in the early days.”

Commenting on Northrop Grumman’s IPC involvement, Mike Ankrom, a manufacturing engineering manager at the company commented, “IPC membership is viewed as a win-win scenario. We get the benefits of IPC through its documents, conferences and training. In turn, we get to shape the future of the industry by participating on standards development committees. We can help determine what gets addressed and help establish priorities on documents.”

According to Joe D’Ambrisi, MacDermid’s vice president of electronics marketing and technology, the ability to share ideas with members who represent every level of the supply chain is a key reason MacDermid, Inc. has remained an active IPC participant for five decades. “IPC has provided MacDermid with a tremendous amount of benefits; there’s no other place where we can communicate with everyone in the supply chain, said D’Ambrisi. “And for every one of the technologies we introduce, we use IPC standards as the benchmark for our own testing.”
