CONGRESSMAN RANDY HULTGREN TOURS PETROFERM Ongoing IPC Initiative to Open Dialogue Between Electronics Manufacturers and Policymakers

May 14, 2014

Today, Congressman Randy Hultgren (R-IL-14) visited Petroferm, a Vantage Chemicals business, at the company’s Lambent Technologies manufacturing facility in Gurnee, Ill., to learn first-hand about priority legislative and regulatory issues that impact the electronics manufacturing industry.

“I want to extend my appreciation to Petroferm and IPC for arranging this tour and hosting today’s meeting,” said Rep. Hultgren. “When our state is still suffering from above-average unemployment, it is imperative we support our local businesses and manufacturers which provide thousands of jobs to Illinois workers. Petroferm is one of these crucial businesses and is an excellent example of U.S. innovation.”

Rep. Hultgren’s visit included a tour of the Gurnee facility that manufactures and supplies high-reliability cleaning products for electronics assembly and semiconductor packaging applications. In addition to providing Petroferm branded products, Lambent Technologies manufactures high-quality, naturally derived specialty chemicals and intermediates for a broad range of industrial and consumer applications. Lambent’s strengths are in surfactants, emulsifiers, performance additives, and other organic specialties synthesized using esterification and alkoxylation chemistries.

Dan Romani, business director, Petroferm Cleaning, hosted the tour and led the discussion on several important policy and regulatory issues including export controls, R&D tax credits and intellectual property protection. “On behalf of Petroferm and IPC, we thank Congressman Hultgren for his time and continued support for the manufacturing industry,” said Romani.  “We look forward to working with him on policies that help our industry remain competitive, create jobs and continue to innovate.”

Rep. Hultgren’s visit was part of IPC’s “Meet the Policymakers” program. Through this program, IPC government relations staff match IPC-member companies with their respective representatives to schedule visits to company locations. Member companies interested in hosting a legislator should contact IPC Vice President of Government Relations John Hasselmann at JohnHasselmann@ipc.org.
