ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURERS LOOK TO STAY CURRENT IN THE CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF CONFLICT MINERALS

Jun 09, 2014

Even before electronics manufacturing companies were filing reports in compliance with the June 2 conflict minerals reporting deadline, savvy electronics manufacturing companies were looking forward and making preparations for the future of conflict minerals reporting. Continuing its long-standing conflict minerals educational outreach efforts, IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries® is offering a one-day conference, Conflict Minerals: Staying Current in a Changing Landscape, on July 10, 2014, in Santa Clara, Calif. to provide manufacturers up-to-the-minute information on the changing landscape of conflict minerals.

Speakers with experience in conflict minerals regulations and compliance will provide conference attendees with a strategic overview of conflict minerals compliance, how businesses have been impacted by the first reporting round and lessons learned.

Additional topics include: a European Union regulatory update, data exchange and supply chain inquiries, information on the Conflict Free Smelter Initiative, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) activities, audits and audit standards development, and data collection and quality issues.

Companies throughout the supply chain need up-to-date information on conflict minerals,” said Fern Abrams, IPC director of government relations and environmental policy. “It’s important for companies to provide clear and detailed information about their supply chain due diligence and to keep moving forward and be prepared for what lies ahead. The conference will provide guidance on effective compliance strategies.”
