EMS Program Managers Now Able To Gain Certification Through IPC Training Program

Nov 16, 2001

IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries has announced the launch of its new Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) Program Manager Training and Certification Program, a four-part course designed to provide a thorough education and, upon successful completion of the exam, an IPC EMS Program Manager certificate.

The training program, which was developed through input of the IPC EMS Management Council, is specifically tailored for EMS Program Managers, with such topics as operations inventory management, finance, contract management and leadership skills.

The extensive 70+ hour training program is designed for experienced managers, new managers and managers in training within the EMS industry and is broken into the following segments:

Introduction to EMS Industry and Program Management - May 17-18, 2002-Atlanta, GA, October 11-12, 2002-Chicago, IL

  • EMS Training I - Self-study/Internet based
  • EMS Training II - November 8-9, 2002-New Orleans, LA, March 28-29, 2003-Anaheim, CA
  • EMS Leadership Training - January 16-17, 2003-San Jose, CA, June 5-6, 2003-State College, PA
  • Certification Exam - September 14, 2002-Philadelphia, PA, January 18, 2003-San Jose, CA, June 7, 2003-State College, PA

"As the key interface between client needs and manufacturing capabilities, the program manager fulfills a critical role in the EMS business model," said Lisa Griffin, IPC director of Assembly Industry Programs. "This training and certification program is the only educational course of study specifically developed to train them in their required areas of expertise."
