Some of the revised publications include: - IPC/WHMA-A-620, Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies. IPC and the Wire Harness Manufacturers Association teamed to develop this easy-to-understand standard. Included in its 18 chapters are criteria for wire prep, soldering to terminals, crimping of stamped and formed contacts and machined contacts, insulation displacement connectors, ultrasonic welding, splicing, connectors, molding, marking, coax/twinax cables, wrapping/lacing, shielding, assembly and wire-wrap terminations.
- IPC-9701, Performance Test Methods and Qualification Requirements for Surface Mount Solder Attachments. This standard provides specific test methods used in the establishment of levels of performance and reliability for surface-mount solder attachments of electronic assemblies. This document also provides an approximate means of relating the results from the performance test methods included to the reliability of solder attachments for the use environments and conditions of electronic assemblies.
- IPC-6018A, Microwave End Product Board Inspection and Test. This document establishes requirements for qualification and performance of high frequency (microwave) printed wiring boards. It covers both end-product inspection and test of microwave boards for microstrip, stripline, mixed dielectric and multilayer stripline applications.
- IPC-2571, Generic Requirements for Electronic Manufacturing Supply Chain Communication - Product Data eXchange. This standard defines an XML encoding schema that enables a total product definition to be described at a level appropriate to facilitate supply chain interactions. The schema is defined for bill of materials (BOM), approved manufacturer list (AML), changes (engineering, manufacturing, product) and references to documents describing geometric and other definition characteristics.
- IPC-DRM-18F, Component Identification Desk Reference Manual. This comprehensive reference guide contains color graphics and full descriptions of more than 40 commonly used through-hole and surface-mount components, connectors and other hardware used in electronic assembly today. Also included is a terminology section with quick facts on polarity, orientation, packaging, lead styles, class ID letters and component reference designators.
- IPC-4101A, Specifications for Base Materials for Rigid and Multilayer Printed Boards. This standard covers the requirements for base materials (laminate and prepreg) to be used primarily for rigid or multilayer printed boards for electrical and electronic circuits. It includes specification sheets for laminate and prepreg, separated by family with cross-references to their UL, ANSI and former military designations.
