As a new channel for exposing large numbers of consumers to new EDA products, it offers an experienced, professional business team available to emerging companies looking to leverage growth by outsourcing their sales force. It provides all the elements of a high-end and worldwide EDA sales infrastructure, from market exposure to sales closure.
Contrary to the concept of farming out low-cost, commodity products to multiple manufacturers reps and alternate channels, Monarch Technologies Group is, essentially, a high-end sales force for hire, says its founder Bill Hoolhorst. We offer a ready-made, high-end sales force to new and emerging EDA companies focused on using their resources on product development. Leveraging Monarchs investment in sales and marketing allows both companies to meet their over all business objectives.
Remarks Richard Curtin, chief operating officer at @HDL Incorporated: Bill Hoolhorst and his team provide a ready-to-go sales organization with the right mix of experience and market coverage. @HDL is looking forward to working with Monarch Technologies Group to grow our business to the next level.
Monarch Technologies Group was formed in 2003 to provide a worldwide professional sales and marketing channel for suppliers of complex EDA software and hardware. Its team of 10 represents today Ascend Design Automation, Emulation and Verification Engineering (EVE), @HDL and Runtime Design Automation. It expects to announce other partnerships soon.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley, it has devised a commission-based sales model for sales within the United States, and a fee-based program for managing international distributors. The core is its seasoned sales professionals, recruited as entrepreneurs to manage business in their local territories. This team is tied together through an infrastructure that coordinates forecasting, territory sales and strategy planning, local marketing and promotion, telesales and lead-creation, presentation material and account development.
As president, Hoolhorst leverages his experience building and managing sales teams. At Mentor Graphics Corp., he conceptualized and led its first Emerging Accounts sales team. He was vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for two EDA companies, Exemplar Logic and Pendulum Design Automation, and managed North American sales for InSilicon, a semiconductor intellectual property (IP) company acquired by Synopsys. He held director-level positions at Cadence Design Systems and Analogy Corp. Hoolhorst started his career as an independent sales representative before becoming a sales manager for Genrad. He also worked for Zycad and Gateway Design Automation, also acquired by Cadence.
Unlike most EDA startups, Monarch Technologies Groups four-member advisory board balances its clients technical strength with a wide range of practical business wisdom. Members of the board include: Nanette Collins, owner of an EDA Public Relations firm and a member of the Design Automation Conferences Executive Committee; Joe Pagano, who brings 15 years of experience serving as vice president and chief financial officer at numerous technology ventures; Joan Frazer, founder of Northern Lights Marketing, shares her expertise in trade show and seminar management; and Dr. Charles Sigismund, is author of Champions of Silicon Valley: Visionary Thinking from Todays Technology Pioneers, a book built around dialogues with former Cadence CEO Joe Costello, Jim Clark of Netscape, Gordon Moore of Intel and Art Levinson of Genentech.
