Jabil Circuit Deploys Tradec's Cost Management Solution

Jul 03, 2003

San Jose, Calif. - July 1, 2003 - Tradec, Inc., the leading provider of cost management solutions, today announced that electronic manufacturing services provider Jabil Circuit, Inc., (NYSE: JBL) has globally deployed the Tradec Cost Management System (TCMS). Jabil Circuit is leveraging Tradec to improve customer responsiveness by accelerating their supplier quotation and customer proposal process. In addition, Jabil is leveraging Tradec's commodity cost management capabilities to more efficiently and effectively manage the cost of direct material.

The Tradec solution allows Jabil's Material Quote Analysts and Global Commodity Managers to collaborate online with its 5,000 suppliers while sharing and leveraging data across all worldwide locations. With TCMS, Jabil expects to significantly reduce its average quote turnaround. Jabil is also leveraging Tradec's commodity cost management capabilities to more efficiently and effectively manage commodity costs to accelerate their cost reduction cycles, negotiate more effectively, lower their direct material spend, and strengthen relationships with preferred suppliers.

"The success of today's environment depends on higher levels of information, efficiency, and speed," said Mike Ward, vice president, operations development and supply chain management at Jabil. "We are continually investigating new ways to improve our supply chain processes, implementing the latest solutions. Tradec will allow us to increase velocity while creating efficiencies."

The Tradec Cost Management System enables manufacturing companies to reduce material spend, improve productivity, and effectively manage supplier relationships. The solution addresses the entire cost management cycle, from spend analysis through supplier negotiation and compliance monitoring. TCMS provides visibility into spending and cost trends, intelligence into projected future costs, and control over the cost reduction process. With business process modules specifically designed to address commodity management, quotations, supplier performance management, outsourced manufacturing management, and tactical sourcing, TCMS enables companies to actively and systematically manage the total cost of direct materials.

"Jabil's global implementation further validates that Tradec is the solution of choice for electronic manufacturing companies," said Edwin C. Winder, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Tradec. "We are proud to be a key element in Jabil's strategy, with an opportunity to help an industry leader further enhance its competitiveness."
