California-based Data Circuit Systems, a specialized provider of complex multilayer printed circuits and related engineering services, this week announced the successful completion of a three-day ISO 9001:2000 upgrade audit. Subsequently, DCS has been registered to the new ISO 9001/2000 international quality standard by Underwriter's Laboratories.

DCS noted that it has achieved the newly revised standard well in advance of the December 2003 deadline. Citing Quality Digest (February 2003), DCS said that less than 10% of the 41,000 firms registered within the United States have upgraded to the new standard. Failure to comply with and register to the new standard by the deadline will result in expiration of ISO certification, said DCS.
