Jul 13, 2011

Celestica Inc. (NYSE, TSX: CLS), a global leader in the delivery of end-to-end product lifecycle solutions, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded Canadian Manufacturer of the Year by Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME).

The Manufacturer of the Year Award recognizes companies for achieving a fully integrated national and international manufacturing network, as well as demonstrating continuous improvement, strong leadership, and a commitment to sustainability and serving its community.

In the competitive technology marketplace, Celestica is expanding its business in areas such as design, engineering and supply chain services and is investing in diversified markets that include industrial, healthcare and green technology. At the same time, the company is focused on speed and flexibility, as well as driving increased productivity and responsiveness through information technology.

“Celestica has taken innovation in the new economy to the next level,” said Jayson Myers, President and CEO, CME. “Its model, focused on agility to solve the challenges of its customers, is the new benchmark for all companies around the globe. We need more innovative companies like Celestica – companies with Canadian vision and global excellence. CME congratulates Celestica for being a Canadian manufacturer and global leader.”

“This award is emblematic of how Celestica has responded to the rapidly changing marketplace, both in Toronto and around the globe,” said Mike Andrade, Senior Vice President, Diversified Markets, Celestica. “We are shifting away from pure manufacturing to managing the global supply chain of complex technological products. This enables us to proactively deliver solutions that solve our customers’ challenges and accelerate their success.”

Celestica was also recognized for its commitment to sustainability and for supporting its local communities in Asia, Europe and North America. For example, in Toronto, Celestica was recognized by the United Way of Toronto with the Corporate Support Award based on its exceptional commitment to United Way Toronto. In addition, Celestica was named to Canada’s Green 30, an annual list based on Aon Hewitt’s Employee Green Index.
