Juki to Highlight FX-1RL at IPC Midwest 2008

Sep 16, 2008

MORRISVILLE, NC - September 2008 - Juki Corporation, a world-leading provider of automated assembly products and systems, announces that it will exhibit the FX-1RL High-speed Chip Shooter in booth 809 at the upcoming IPC Midwest exhibition and conference, scheduled to take place September 24-25, 2008 in Schaumburg, IL.

Focusing on high throughput and precise component centering, the FX-1RL is equipped with a double head system driven by two independent linear motors that create both high-speed and precise positional accuracy. Both quadruple heads have a multi-nozzle alignment system using a high-resolution laser developed exclusively for Juki's assembly systems. This unique technology simultaneously measures four different components in width, length and height. Additionally, in-flight measurement eliminates idle time.

The chip shooter features a placement rate of 27,000 cph (IPC 9850), and a component range from 01005 to 20mm x 20 mm. Additionally, the system consistently has a placement accuracy of 50m (3 Sigma). Further, the FX-1RL offers numerous key features, including the following:

High rigidity and low vibration. The machine frame is formed from a single casting for which special materials were selected to give vibration-free operation. This technology is unique to the SMT industry - it supports high speed and provides an outstanding accuracy over the life cycle of the system.

Double head system driven by linear motors. The horizontal axes are driven by two independent linear motors that create both high-speed and precise positional accuracy. The innovative concept of the PCB table and two quadruple X/Y-axis placement heads result in virtually zero idle time. While one head is placing components, the other simultaneously picks. These innovations give a high practical throughput, which is far more critical for productivity than any theoretical CPH value.

Ease of operation. The operating software provides a clear and simple menu structure that quickly enables the operator to easily control and program the system. Desktop icons facilitate rapid access to all relevant parameters and the touch panel provides further ease of use.

Time saving and flexible. Tape Feeders can be prepared and loaded to offline trolleys while production is running. An innovative trolley design allows a complete changeover to be conducted in less than 30 seconds. Juki's high-precision single feeder concept offers maximum flexibility that results in a highly efficient placement rate with an absolutely minimal component loss.

Reliable identification of fiducial marks. To provide repeatable identification of fiducial marks - even on flex-circuits and ceramic substrates - the lighting system has been enhanced. The new system uses multiple lighting angles where light intensity can be programmed individually.

Juki Corporation's experience as the market leader in industrial sewing machines was the stepping-stone for the entry into the printed circuit board assembly market in 1987. Since then, Juki has delivered more than 20,000 automated assembly systems worldwide and is currently shipping an average of 200+ assembly machines per month. This extraordinary achievement makes Juki one of the world's leading providers of automated assembly products and systems. In addition to its core technologies, Juki's Electronic Assembly and Test Systems Division develops and manufactures advanced electronic systems and computer software for data entry, mail processing and other electronic equipment.

With the purchase of Zevatech's assets in November 1999, Juki Automation Systems now brings Juki's reputation for top quality and reliable service also to the North and South American and the European electronics assembly markets. Juki recognizes the challenges of the new century and is prepared to respond to the globalization of electronic manufacturing. With a sophisticated knowledge base, advanced technologies and a high commitment to its customers, Juki is poised for continued growth in the 21st century.
