The Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA), a premier semiconductor trade association, today announced its first-ever East Coast keynote and panel discussion in Boston. The event will take place on April 23, 2002 at the Westin Copley Place from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Keynote address "Forging the Future with a Fabless Model," presented by Dr. Adam Chowaniec, Chairman of the Board for Tundra Semiconductor, will open the event. Following will be an in-depth luncheon panel discussion on the state of the fabless industry, moderated by Jim Feldhan, president of Semico Research. The event provides semiconductor industry professionals on the East Coast the unique opportunity to discuss trends in the sector, review an outlook for 2002 and beyond, as well as obtain information on the FSA.

The following will participate as panelists for the luncheon panel discussion:

-- Jeorge Hurtarte, Senior vice-president of engineering and operations, TranSwitch Corporation

-- Chris Smith, Vice-president of manufacturing, Aura Communications, Inc.

-- Veeral Shah, Analyst, Battery Ventures

-- Al Haun, Editor-in-Chief, EDN Worldwide, Reed Electronics Group

FSA members and industry professionals can register for the luncheon on-line at http://www.fsa.org.

About the Fabless Semiconductor Association:

In 1994, industry leaders incorporated FSA (www.fsa.org) to achieve a more optimal balance between wafer demand and capacity. Its more than 350 corporate members represent fabless companies, integrated device manufacturers, foundry providers, packaging/assembly houses, electronic design automation companies, investment bankers, intellectual property providers and other companies.

The organization encourages the relationship between fabless companies and suppliers; facilitates business partnerships; creates awareness of the fabless business model; disseminates relevant data; and fosters standards and policies.

The FSA's vision is that by 2010 half of all integrated circuit revenue will come from fabless operations.
