Seika Machinery, Inc., a leading provider of advanced machinery, materials and engineering services, held its annual sales and distributor meeting on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 during the recent IPC APEX EXPO.
The sales and distributor network training meetings were kicked off with a traditional Japanese “ondo,” a dance performed by several key team members at the company. This was Seika’s way of sharing some of its Japanese culture with attendees at the show.
Seika’s training event included the distributor award ceremony as well as updates on new product offerings. Individualized sales training was conducted for the equipment under representation such as the McDry Electronic Drying Storage Cases, Sawa Ultrasonic Stencil Cleaners, Sayaka PCB Routers, Hioki Flying Probe Testers and others.
“Seika literally translates to ‘flower from the West.’ Seika Corporation started in 1947 in the western region of Japan in Kyushu. This was during the coal mining industry boom. We decided to perform a traditional Japanese “ondo” or dance that is performed typically during the summertime. This dance is performed to the song, Tanko Bushi, which is about coal mining and originated at the Miike Mine located in Kyushu. This was our way of saying thank you to our loyal sales representatives and distributors,” commented Michelle Ogihara, Seika’s Senior Sales Manager.
An appreciation dinner was held at Kiyo’s Restaurant in the Gas Lamp District where the sales network, Seika staff and principals shared an authentic Japanese meal together and sang Karaoke both in Japanese and English to finish off the evening.
