"Our ability to integrate with trading partners has helped us improve our supply-chain operation," said Kevin Burns, Solectron's executive vice president and chief materials officer. "We've increased the efficiency of our buyers and improved our execution while enhancing supply assurance and taking costs out of the supply chain."
"Solectron's success rests on our ability to be a best-in-class supply-chain partner to our suppliers and customers," said Bud Mathaisel, Solectron's corporate vice president and CIO. "By electronically integrating trading partners, we have greatly improved our procurement execution capabilities, cut costs, slashed cycle times and improved service levels for all members of the Solectron value chain."
Many of Solectron's trading partner shave realized the benefits of connecting via E2open, including improved synchronization with Solectron demand signals that results in more efficient inventory utilization. Solectron has developed a system that offers suppliers a range of integration options - including Web-, Excel- and server-to-server-based integration - lowering the cost of doing business with the EMS provider. In addition, the E2open solution acts as a supply-chain "system of record," enabling Solectron, its customers and suppliers to more reliably track the flow of parts and finished goods.
"Solectron is an example of how a company can leverage technology to support process improvements and deliver measurable business benefits to both its suppliers and customers," said Greg Clark, E2open's CEO.
Applications Deployed And Delivering Value
Solectron has deployed E2open's solution to web-integrate more than 1,200 supplier accounts into its Web-based procurement application, an instance of E2open's supply-chain collaboration workflow software hosted and managed by E2open and handling more than 700,000 transactions per month across 18 Solectron sites worldwide. Together with E2open, Solectron "which manages more than 4,000 active suppliers and 200,000 different part-numbers" is undertaking a plan to move many of its largest trading partners to server-to-server integration to improve supply-chain communication.
