The event, which is sponsored by ASSEMBLY magazine (http://www.assemblymag.com/), features the world's most comprehensive showcase of assembly solutions, from advanced robotic systems to hand tools. More than 700 leading suppliers will display and demonstrate new products in more than 50 categories, for use in a wide range of manufacturing industries, including automotive; electronics; industrial equipment; computers; household appliances; motors and generators; medical; telecommunications and aeronautics/aerospace.
"Assembly Technology Expo is a unique opportunity for manufacturing professionals to see and evaluate the full spectrum of products and services used in manual or fully automated assembly," stated Kelvin Marsden-Kish, Vice President of Reed Exhibitions, producer of the Assembly family of events. "ATExpo makes it convenient for attendees to locate the solutions they need to increase productivity, enhance product quality and reduce cycle times because everything is located under one roof. It's fast, efficient and cost-effective."
Industry-Developed Conference Program
Developed by the industry's leading associations, the ATExpo Conference offers 40 in-depth sessions organized into five tracks: Manufacturing Management; Automated Assembly; Lean Manufacturing; Materials Joining; and Wire Processing. The highly respected organizations presenting conference sessions at the ATExpo Conference include APICS, the Educational Society for Resource Management; the Adhesives and Sealant Council (ASC); the Edison Welding Institute (EWI); the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME); and the Wiring Harness Manufacturers Association (WHMA). Sessions will focus on a variety of high-interest topics, including work cell design; robotic controls; lean automation; supply chain collaboration; laser welding; adhesive bonding and many more.
Co-located SMTA International Conference
In addition, attendees from the electronics manufacturing industry can update their technical skills at the co-located SMTA International Conference (http://www.smta.org/smtai/) , which features 36 courses on such leading edge technologies as Optoelectronics, HDI, Flip Chip, 0201 Assembly, BGA, Chip Scale Packaging, AOI, Lean Manufacturing, Automotive Electronics, SMT, MEMS and more.
FREE Keynote Presentations by General Motors and Ford
Assembly Tech Expo attendees will have the opportunity to hear insights on the value of cutting-edge assembly technologies from senior executives of two of the world's most successful and respected manufacturers.
Gerald L. Elson, Vice President of General Motors and General Manager of GM Vehicle Operations, will kick off the event with his presentation, entitled "Emerging Technologies in Automotive Manufacturing" on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at 9:00 am. On the following day, Anne Stevens, Vice President, North American Vehicle Operations for the Ford Motor Company, will speak on "Technology as an Enabler for People and Quality" at 9:00 am.
Electronics Assembly Pavilion
Two dedicated technology pavilions make it easier for ATExpo attendees to locate the specific products and suppliers they want to see. The Electronics Manufacturing Pavilion, which opens at 9:00 am each day, features more than 200 top suppliers offering state-of-the-art solutions for every phase of the manufacturing process, from design, packaging and fabrication to assembly and test. The pavilion also features the EASi Line, a working assembly line that incorporates typical equipment for board handling and transport; stencil printing; component pick and place; reflow; test and inspection; robotic point-to-point soldering; robotic packaging; and factory modeling and simulation.
Robotics Pavilion
Attendees requiring automated assembly solutions can head straight for the Robotics Pavilion to see the latest generation of robotic solutions from leading suppliers including Adept Technologies; APS Robotics & Integration; ATI Industrial Automation; Denso Robotics; Staubli Corporation; and Yamaha Robotics.
Wire Processing Assembly Line
In addition, the Wiring Harness Manufacturers Association (WHMA) will feature two working fabrication lines for wiring harnesses that will manufacture cells with a build sequence that includes cut, strip, terminate, house, tube, harness, label, text and package.
ATExpo Networking Reception
All registered attendees and exhibitors are invited to enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages at the ATExpo Networking Reception, which will be held from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Tuesday, September 24th.
Lean Manufacturing Forum
Show sponsor ASSEMBLY magazine will present a free Lean Manufacturing Forum on Wednesday, September 25 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This interactive panel discussion brings together manufacturing executives from five non-competing manufacturers--including Boeing, Deere, Freudenberg, Toyota Motor Manufacturing and Ross Controls--to discuss the challenges and issues involved in setting up and managing a truly lean production environment. Panelists will explore the pros and cons of lean manufacturing, share success stories, implementation tips, and lessons learned, followed by a Q&A session.
