Parvus' USB104+ 4-Port PC/104-Plus USB Host Controller

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH DECEMBER 2, 2004 Parvus Corporation today announced it will soon release its USB104+, a 4-port high-speed USB 2.0 host controller with two high-current USB ports for directly powering attached devices.

Up to 40 times faster that legacy USB 1.1 controllers, this compact PC/104-Plus form factor (3.550 x 3.775) module provides a total of four downstream ports, two supplying up to 500mA drive and two enhanced ports supporting up to 2A drive. Its high current power switches greatly simplify the power supply design of the embedded computer since the 2A ports can directly power attached USB mass storage and other devices through the USB cable.

The boards high performance PCI-bus USB controller chip supports all hi-speed USB transfer speed modes: High-Speed (480 Mbps), Full-Speed (12 Mbps) and Low-Speed (1.5 Mbps). All four downstream ports allow mixed, simultaneous connections of USB 2.0 and/or 1.1 devices at different speeds.

Typical applications for the USB104+ board include use with various removable or fixed mass storage media, USB memory keys, printers, cameras, CD drives, and high speed USB 2.5" hard drives. The board supports hot insert and is compatible with Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE, Linux, QNX, and other real-time operating systems.
