A-Laser Provides the Cleanest Cut for DuPont Kapton Films

Nov 01, 2009

BEAVERTON, OR — October 2009 — A-Laser, a division of FCT Assembly and a premier laser cutting service specializing in the ablation of ultra-thin metals and plastics, provides the cleanest cut for DuPont Kapton films.

Currently, there is a large demand for laser cutting Kapton spacers. This material is UV laser friendly and because of the properties of these lasers, A-Laser provides a very clean cut, not seen from other cutting methods.

Spacers often are used in test socket applications, where part profiles seem to be shrinking. Therefore, A-Laser’s ability to process a high-quality part for this ultra-thin material using laser cutting methods sets the company apart from other laser cutting services, as well as stamp and etch houses. A-Laser’s laser cutting service always is on the cutting edge of the precision parts market.

“Polyimide films, especially Kapton, comprise a large percentage of the work we see every day. It isn’t an accident that we are known as an industry leader in processing this material,” said Josh Saunders, VP of FCT Assembly’s Parts Division.

A-Laser provides high cutting edge precision and position accuracy (±0005"), fine contours and virtually radius-free internal edges (<20 µm beam), and contact-free material processing to prevent material distortion. Same day quotes and 24-hour turnaround also are available.
