Electronics industry event for New England shifts dates and adds new design and manufacturing show to the mix
Canon Communications today announced new dates and a new exposition hall for NEPCON East, its long established annual event for the electronics industry in New England at the Boston Convention Center. Originally planned for April 22-23, 2009, NEPCON East will now take place a month later on May 20-21, 2009 in a more desirable location at the center. The shift was made at the request of leading exhibitors who felt the show timing was too close to other U.S. industry events taking place near the same time.
"At the recently concluded NEPCON 2008 show, several of our most important exhibitors asked that we move our dates to resolve significant logistical issues they would face with our current 2009 dates," said Joshua Dome, Director of Sales for Canon's events division. "We are quite pleased we were able to make this happen for these key customers and the industry."
"I'm pleased that Canon was able to move NEPCON East to the late-May timeframe," said Brian Duffey, CEO for MYDATA, which is one of the show's largest exhibitors. "NEPCON East is a good show for us and the new timing will make participation possible for MYDATA in 2009. It's great to see that Canon heard the industry concerns and moved proactively to make this happen."
Along with the date shift, Canon also announced the introduction of Design & Manufacturing New England as a co-located show with NEPCON East and the previously co-located Assembly New England show in 2009. This new show joins Canon's suite of leading advanced design and manufacturing tradeshows that includes National Manufacturing Week/Design Engineering, Pacific Design & Manufacturing, Atlantic Design & Manufacturing, and Design & Manufacturing South. The overall Boston event will feature 375 exhibitors and 6,000 attendees.
"Design & Manufacturing New England will serve the highly concentrated OEM markets in New England," said Dome. "Key OEM sectors in attendance to the 150-exhibitor show will include electronics, defense, aerospace/aviation, instrumentation, industrial equipment, and medical. The cross-over of the expected 2,000 attendees will benefit NEPCON exhibitors who also target the OEM marketplace as noted above."
