Last year the NEPCON Penang event saw more than 7,500 visitors, from 17 countries and this year looks set to continue this upward trend. Also known as �Silicon Island,� Penang is the third largest state economy in Malaysia and home to global industry heavyweights such as Dell, Intel, AMT, Agilent, Hitachi, Bosch and Seagate. With Penang focused on manufacturing and, in particular, high-tech electronics production, it is no wonder NEPCON Penang 2008 has attracted Exhibitors from 541multinational and local manufacturing companies.
Reed Exhibitions set it sights on being Malaysia�s most significant platform for bringing together new products, new technologies and new business. With NEPCON Penang now in its 9th edition, this goal has well and truly been achieved in 2008 with a record 35 percent of exhibitors launching new products at the show. Additionally, 60 percent of exhibitors taking part in NEPCON Penang will be completely new, providing many more opportunities for visitors to find what they are looking for and compare from a host of new suppliers.
Also new for the 2008 event will be two new feature pavilions, including a Semiconductor Pavilion with 19 participating companies, indicating the potential for growth is this sector. Along with PCB assembly equipment, materials and services, test and measurement, components and other related manufacturing services, the addition of Semiconductor marks NEPCON Penang�s position as a total industry exhibition platform, benefiting exhibitors and visitors alike.
The second new addition is the Penang Pavilion � Reed Exhibitions� first collaboration with �Invest-in-Penang,� the initiative set up by a government agency to promote trade and investment to develop local industries. This pavilion will be Penang�s opportunity to showcase suppliers and what they can offer visitors from Malaysia and around the world. This will become a �must visit� area for potential investors in Penang and for companies looking for business partners in this region.
Reed Exhibitions also has worked in conjunction with the Malaysian International Development Authority to provide a series of new international seminars, under the theme �Electronics � The Way Forward.� These seminars, being held 3rd and 4th June, will offer an insightful look into topics such as key growth areas, training, funding, the solar energy industry, green manufacturing and more.
