The SIPLACE SX concept combines minimal initial investment with maximum scalability. Visitors have been amazed while they watch the demonstrations because they see how the gantry exchange process is so simple, fast, and effortless. The exchange is being performed with only a few tools to complete the entire operation, a single operator who easily slides a gantry by hand into the machine, and the machine automatically recognizes a gantry has been added as the engineer confirms with a simple touch of a button.
The SIPLACE SX is the only placement platform on the market to offer optimum placement speed and feeder capacity in only 1.5 meters of line space. Even with its small footprint, the SX machine accommodates 120 feeder positions – 60-8mm positions per component cart on each side of the machine providing plenty of capacity for flexible setup concepts. Even when a waffle-pack changer is used, there is enough room left for an adjacent smaller component cart with 20 8-mm feeder positions.
SIPLACE SX powered by SIPLACE MultiStar
While on the road the SIPLACE Team is also be demonstrating how the SIPLACE SX powered by the SIPLACE MultiStar (Collect & Pick & Place) head can cover the entire component spectrum using only one placement head in three different placement modes eliminating the need for head changes and line reconfigurations. The SIPLACE MultiStar enables manufacturers to simplify line setup and programming and ensures optimal line balancing for higher productivity and lower operational costs. The new MultiStar head also enables manufacturers to reduce their placement costs per board by more than 30 percent.
SIPLACE Operational Machine Software
Standard with all SIPLACE X and SX machines is SIPLACE 703 machine software. This user friendly software upgrade provides operators with a task oriented guide in a very simplified graphical format. The software proactively gives warnings on how to keep the machine running efficiently and allows engineers to make multiple adjustments (component pickup positions from feeders and setup adjustments) all while the board remains in the machine during the building process. Quality checks can be made after components have been placed because the software stores images of components on the head camera allowing operators to review subsequent to placement. Auto recovery is permanently switched on and if power outages occur the board continues at the exact point where it left off when power is restored.
With SIPLACE 703 machine software increased time and cost saving benefits are immediately realized including the avoidance of expensive and difficult rework, improved ease of use, improved handling of component sensor errors and maintenance tools to avoid unnecessary restart of machines.
Right First Time Manufacturing
The SIPLACE set of off-line programming tools that ensure ‘Right First Time Manufacturing’ have also been a big hit to visitors. With SIPLACE Vision Teach visitors are shown how the same powerful component shape recognition features as on the machine can also be recognized offline. The program software’s ability to make virtual builds of customer boards so that discrepancies in CAD data can be debugged offline received very positive reactions.
With SIPLACE Offline Setup Verification software manufacturers can be assured that the correct components are always on the circuit board. Significant time savings can be realized by doing the entire process offline.
The SIPLACE SX combines record breaking technology allowing manufacturers to scale position capacity and placement performance independently and switch them between machines and lines "on demand". It makes constant reconfigurations that drain time and productivity a thing of the past. It eliminates the need for costly line reconfigurations each time new products and/or demands change. The SIPLACE SX is the ideal solution that allows you to invest in only what you need, when you need it.
When visitors were asked what impressed them the most about the new SIPLACE SX, Mr. Niceforo Rodriguez, Operations Manager at Foxconn stated, "Flexibility, excellent programming tools and low cost maintenance of the new platform."
