Libra Industries, a privately held electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, today announced that Scott Fillebrown, CTO, will present during the PCB West Conference, scheduled to take place September 13-16, 2016 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in CA. Fillebrown will present “Design for Assembly” on Wednesday, September 14 during the morning session.
Design for assembly (DfA) is an ongoing struggle to balance assembly, fabrication and layout. The layout designer strives to create a product with ease of assembly in mind while following the rules of the engineer’s design. In short, ease of assembly equals cost savings, and understanding fabrication limitations equals increased yields.
The layout designer should think of themselves as a mediator among fabrication and assembly. Fillebrown will discuss silkscreens, fabrication and assembly concerns, footprint errors, connector placement, DfA checks and more. This presentation is ideal for PCB designers, system designers, design engineers and fabricators.
Fillebrown is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Libra Industries, a multi-site EMS company. Previously, he was president and CEO of ACD, a PCB design and EMS company, where he was from 1995 until its purchase by Libra Industries in 2016. He graduated from the University of Texas – Dallas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing.
