Applying this excellent electrical solution to integrated circuit test (ICT) is a mechanical challenge. The targets that need to be contacted with two electrically-isolated, mechanically-independent probes are small and closely spaced (and getting smaller and closer). While implementing Kelvin contactors may be more expensive initially, in the long run they save money by cutting costs in high-volume production tests.
