Torenko and Associates, a leading manufacturers’ representative organization specializing in the sales and marketing of premier electronics assembly equipment, production tools, test, repair, inspection, and consumable products to the regional United States, announces that it recently sold Houston-based Mesa Engineering the first IBL In-Line Vapor Phase with Vacuum in Texas. The system was installed in mid-January 2012.
Mesa has been serving the research and development (R&D) needs of industry and business since 1978. The company’s success and growth has evolved through providing its clientele with expert design engineers, cutting-edge technology and a state-of-the-art product development lab on an “on-call/as needed” basis. Mesa consistently provides innovative, cost-effective solutions for its clients’ engineering design needs in a timely manner.
“We selected IBL because we wanted the highest possible SMT assembly quality,” said Mesa Engineering’s President Clint Davis. “Today, we are faced with ever-decreasing pitch size, decreasing thermal envelope margins, and temperamental RoHS paste formulations. At the same time, quality is as always critical when you recognize that it is your product, your reputation and your field service call if something fails.”
IBL’s VAC665i is a premium in-line vacuum vapor phase soldering system that is designed for void-free soldering. It features low process temperature, time optimized vacuum process, and the highest precision and process quality with patented Soft Vapor Phase (SVP) technology. It has a small footprint, optional inline-handling (upgrade possible) and can accommodate board sizes up to 650 x 640 x 80 mm. Additionally, the VAC665i is low energy with a low fluid consumption with two-chamber design and integrated heat exchanger. Further features include:
- Low maintenance due to cool handling (all moving parts outside process chamber)
- Easy touch screen control
- Easy operation due to soldering automatic and patented process
- Optional patented IR preheating ideal also for glue hardening
- Optional patented Rapid Cooling System (RCS) for reduced cycle time and heat reduction of sensitive parts.
IBL Loettechnik was founded in 1985. Since then it has focused on the development, production and sales of vapor phase soldering systems and associated products. The company continues developing the acceptance of vapor phase technology. The patented Soft Vapor Phase (SVP) provides the benchmark in quality, flexibility and robustness. IBL holds numerous national and international patents for vapor phase technology. Additionally, the company continues maintaining its high standards of vapor phase machine build by ensuring that all vapor phase systems are individually assembled and produced.
“With the VAC665 inline vacuum, Mesa can reduce voiding dramatically while reducing its peak temperature to 235°C. We are pleased to have customers like Mesa because they are great to work with, understand the benefit of vapor phase and are focused on a high-quality product,” said Jochen Lipp, CEO of IBL.
