New IPC 7711/7721 Rev. “C” The Rework and Repair of Electronic Assemblies – Focused IR

Jan 15, 2017

PDR Americas, a leader in IR rework, test and inspection, is pleased to announce that the new IPC 7711/7721 Rev. C standard – The Rework and Repair of Electronic Assemblies – now includes focused infrared technology as a method for the removal and replacement of components. PDR offers the only systems on the market that have this technology.

Focused IR Rework Technology – Visible IR Rework is now part of Rev. C of IPC 7711/7721 for managers and technicians responsible for the successful rework and repair of electronic assemblies. Focused IR technology is identified as generating visible heat energy that is controlled by the use of an iris mechanism, direct in-process IC thermal control, and does not require air nozzles, i.e. laminar air flow. The technology is well-suited for high-mix applications, applications requiring advanced thermal control precision, and applications requiring the direct in-process control of the IC when undergoing temperature gradients.

To obtain IPC documents, please visit www.ipc.org or www.pdr-rework.com to learn more about focused infrared rework. For additional information about PDR’s focused infrared technology, please contact PDR sales at 530-676-6262 or email Sales@pdrxy.com.

PDR Rework Systems remains at the forefront of rework technology by providing air nozzle free systems with advanced in-process control features and visible light that takes the guesswork out of rework.
