Chase Corporation Forms Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) Group to Target New England

Feb 21, 2001

Chase Corporation has announced the newly formed Chase EMS Group, based in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and is rapidly emerging as a high quality provider of electronics manufacturing services in the New England region. Chase EMS Group, a business unit of Chase Corporation, consists of three separate facilities in the eastern Massachusetts area. These facilities include Sunburst, a full service assembly facility with its focus on Southern New England, located in West Bridgewater; NETCO Automation of Haverhill, offering prototyping, and advanced technology for all of New England; and RWA of Melrose, offering production and volume assembly for northern New England.

Chase EMS Group is an electronics contract manufacturer offering high quality design, prototyping, manufacturing, assembly, and testing services to the electronic industry. ISO 9001 and FDA certified, the company provides its partners state of the art assembly services, from multiple high speed SMT production lines with the ability to place fine pitch and BGAs, to a full range of capabilities in through hole, hand assembly, box build, mechanical product assembly, and more.

In making the announcement, Peter R. Chase, President and CEO of Chase Corporation, stated, "Since our initial investment in Sunburst EMS, we have envisioned a stronger position in the burgeoning contract manufacturing market. This market offers substantial growth potential, with the New England area in the forefront. The acquisitions of RWA and NETCO Automation have complemented our original investment in Sunburst. These companies have shared resources and are now developing a common vision for the future. The time is right to present this group in a unified, integrated approach to the marketplace."

Andrew Chase, Vice President of Chase EMS Group, added, "Our goal is to become a major supplier of electronics manufacturing services in New England. Our unique approach to the market allows us to offer customers the responsiveness and flexibility of a small company with the capital resources, advanced technology and high quality of a large company. Our focus is to service segments of the market not addressed by the Tier 1 EMS providers. We specialize in high technology, moderate volume applications and have fine-tuned our operation and trained our people to excel with such applications."

Between the three facilities, Chase EMS Group boasts eight (8) SMT lines and over 150 employees. The company continually invests in advanced technology resources and equipment such as multi-axis X-ray, automated inspection equipment, dedicated customer work cells, custom test stations and burn-in chambers, and other services and equipment needed to address customers' growing requirements.

Chase Corporation is a diversified, advanced manufacturing company providing a wide-variety of high quality products and services to multiple industries. Since the founding of the Company in 1946, Chase has grown to become a successful, carefully managed, multi-divisional company with a global base.
