Gen3 Systems Limited, a specialist British manufacturer and distributor, today announced that it will exhibit at the IPC APEX EXPO alongside its North American Distributor Ascentech LLC.  Gen3 Systems will be present on Booth #1028 at the IPC APEX EXPO, scheduled to take place Feb. 24-26, 2015 at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, and will introduce new and improved products for electronics manufacturing at the trade show.

GEN3 has redesigned its line of Surface Installation Resistance Testers (AutoSIR) and Conductive Anodic Filament Monitoring Testing System (AutoCAF)

The key features of both the NEW AutoSIR 2 and AutoCAF 2 Measurement systems provide the following product enhancements:

  • Measurement Time: 256 Channels <8 seconds
  • Applied Voltage: +1V to 1000V
  • Measurement Range: 106 ω to 1014 ω
  • Measurement Method: Continuous on all selected tests
  • Measurement Test Intervals: Fully selectable from minimum of one minute
  • Capable of testing to all existing test specifications IPC - IEC - JNC and other user specifications

Unlike the original instruments, the use of switch relays is eliminated so that, when the test and measurement voltages are the same, truly continuous monitoring and measurements can be made.
Measurements may be taken at test intervals that are fully selectable from a minimum of one minute. Each channel is current limited (1 Mω), ensuring that Electro-Chemical Reactions (Dendrites) are preserved for subsequent failure analysis. The frequent monitoring capability provides a full picture of the electro-chemical reactions taking place on a circuit assembly, and provides early trend analysis enabling tests to be curtailed, thus saving considerable test time and money.

Both the AutoSIR 2 and AutoCAF 2 Systems are available with 64, 128 or 256 channel configurations.

Graham Naisbitt, Managing Director of Gen3 commented, “The features of the new AutoSIR and AutoCAF instruments provide significant performance improvements at a highly competitive price. Much of the developments were achieved through our participation on a major CAF Research Project conducted by our NPL. We believe that the ability to measure from 256 test channels in less than 8 seconds is industry-leading and the IPC APEX EXPO is the perfect Launchpad for these new products.”

Gen3 also will exhibit the Gensonic Stencil Cleaning System, awarded the European Product of the Year at Productronica 2013, which is a manual operated ultrasonic transducer unit for cleaning stencil apertures.

The Gensonic can be used either in conjunction with Gen3’s Stencil Cleaning Centres or is portable enough to be taken directly to the printer thereby greatly reducing production downtime and printer resetting.

The Solder-Saver offers companies that use wave soldering the opportunity to instantly recycle dross created in the wave solder pot, thereby saving up to 50 percent in new solder bar purchases. It can be used with tin – lead alloy or lead-free alloy wave soldering machines.

Also available in Gen3’s manufactured product line is the Ionic Contamination Systems, also known as the CM Series, Dip and Spray Coating Systems, MUST III Solderability Testing System (wetting balance), Wizard Thermal Profiling and Solder Paste Inspection.
