Inventec Performance Chemicals to speak about solder paste reliability at SMTA South East Asia Technical Conference.

Apr 06, 2016

Selangor, Malaysia (Apr 5th, 2016) – Inventec Performance Chemicals (Inventec) will present the technical paper, “Reliability Assessment of No Clean and Water Soluble Solder Pastes, Part II” at the SMTA’s South East Asia Technical Conference.  Inventec’s presentation will be given by Mr. Steven Teh, Regional Applications Manager, and will focus on the comparison of reflow conditions and clean ability of these two types of solder paste formulations. The paper will be presented at the Solder Alloy Reliability Session on Wednesday, April 13th at 09:00AM, at the Eastin Hotel in Penang, Malaysia.

Todays electronics assembly is mainly No Clean: the solder paste formulation is safer in terms of chemical reliability and process costs are reduced by eliminating cleaning after reflow. However, some applications, such as military, aerospace, microwave and semiconductor require complete elimination of the residue after reflow. There are several options to achieve this: the use of a No Clean paste from which the residue can be removed or the use of a paste designed to be cleaned, such as a water soluble solder paste. Mr. Teh will highlight the differences between these two families of solder pastes to guide users in their choice. This will be achieved through reliability comparisons of several recent water soluble and No Clean formulations
