Optical-Control GmbH & Co. KG, a leader in automated component counting technology using X-ray imaging, announced today that they have hired Scott Cook of Methods Automation as their newest rep, covering Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, and Washington DC.

Methods Automation, Inc. offers over 31 years of experience in the electronic manufacturing arena and has established a leading sales and service position in the Mid-Atlantic region. Their strategy is based around representation of “A tier” supply partners, product knowledge and delivering relevant customer centric solutions. They offer a full range of SMT prototype, production, and test equipment, as well as SMT support products.

When we initially evaluated this tool, we were drawn to the labor savings ROI potential,” commented Scott Cook.  “However, after closer review, we learned that count accuracy, processing speed and reduced reel handling/ damage are also important features.  When considering the level of automation in the typical surface mount assembly operation, the current manual and semi-manual methods of component inventory verification seem out of place.  We believe many of our customers will find this product intriguing.”

Cook is referring to the SMD X-Ray Scanner OC-Scan CCX.3 from Optical Control, which counts components in <10 seconds, boasts automatic component recognition, and offers verification of results through plausibility check-a prerequisite for automation.

“We are honored to have Scott as our rep in his territory. He is a constant professional and an industry leader whom always puts the needs of his customers as top priority,” commented Todd O’Neil, Leader of the North American team for Optical-Control.
