Jul 11, 2001

FRANKFURT July 11 (Reuters) - German chip maker Infineon Technologies on Wednesday denied a newspaper report that it was planning a quick sale of its stake in the Osram Opto Semiconductors unit it owns with parent Siemens

A spokesman said the sale of its stake, which has been planned for some time, need not take place in the current business year ending in September but could be undertaken next year.

He also denied the plannned sale had any link with the capital increase currently underway. The Financial Times Deutschland quoted an Osram spokeswoman as saying that talks were at an advanced stage and could be concluded by the end of September.
