Nicholas Brathwaite, chief technology officer of EMS firm Flextronics, is scheduled to present the keynote address at PCB Design Conference West and HDI Expo 2003. The co-located conferences are slated for March 10-14 at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California. The keynote address will be held on Wednesday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in Room N of the San Jose Convention Center.
Brathwaite will present "The Importance of Collaborative Design in the Supply Chain." He will discuss the issues, challenges and importance of collaboration in taking a product from concept to design to sub-component fabrication, and from manufacture to distribution, installation and support. He will describe the relationship between electronic manufacturing services (EMS) companies and OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), and how they can work together to tackle the challenges in the year ahead - realizing perhaps the greatest savings yet by leveraging horizontal processes to improve the integration and efficiencies of product realization.
Brathwaite has been with Flextronics since the acquisition of nChip in 1995, where he held the position of vice president and general manager of operations. He is currently chief technology officer at Flextronics. As a founding member of nChip, Brathwaite was responsible for all manufacturing and operational activities, including wafer fabrication, wafer test and module assembly. Before joining nChip, Brathwaite spent six years with Intel Corp. in various engineering management positions in Technology Development and Manufacturing. He has a B.S. in Applied Chemistry, an M.S. in Polymer Engineering, a BSc (Hons) from McMaster University Canada and an MSc from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Brathwaite has several patents and has authored more than 50 national and international publications.
