Kurtz Ersa North America, a leading supplier of electronics production equipment, announces that Ohio-based LSI ADL Technology purchased an Ersa VERSAFLOW 3/45 in-line selective soldering machine.
“LSI ADL Technology has experienced an evolving business relationship with Kurtz Ersa, with Ersa providing excellent service and support for their equipment for over 10 years,” said Don Winks, Engineering Manager at LSI ADL Technology LLC.
“This relationship led LSI ADL Technology LLC to purchase the new Ersa Versaflow 3/45 with key factors being the throughput advantages associated with the modular design of the Ersa equipment, and the dual solder pot option for each of the solder modules.
The ability to have both lead and lead-free solder alloys in each soldering module eliminated the loss of production we were experiencing with our older machine when changeover was required to run Lead Free production. The time to cool the solder pots for removal, and the startup time required to reach production temperatures after the changeover was resulting in the loss of valuable production time that could not be made up. The dual solder pot option also supports improvements to production scheduling by eliminating delays for expedited orders when the required alloy was not loaded in the machine.
The automatic solder nozzle cleaning and solder feed along with other unique design features and software options available with the Ersa machine also played important roles in our decision. The modular design of the Ersa leaves the door open to add an additional solder module and machine options if we would experience the need for additional throughput or a change to soldering requirements in our future.”
The VERSAFLOW 3/45 features a servo gantry, electromagnetic pumping system, top- and bottom-side heating and dual solder pot capability for dual alloy processing without the need for pot swapping. Additional features include board warpage detection, fiducial recognition and auto nozzle cleaning. The modular system handles board sizes 16" x 20", 20" x 20" and 24" x 24".
