Specialty Coating Systems, Inc. (SCS) is pleased to announce that its operation in Japan, Parylene Japan, LLC, received an award from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The award was given to Parylene Japan for its cooperation in JAXA's successful project to collect surface and subsurface materials from an asteroid called "Ryugu" and bring them back to Earth. Ryugu is 186,411,358 miles away from Earth.
In order to achieve this goal, the mission consisted of four carriers: a launch vehicle, a research mother ship, a research ship and a return ship. Parylene conformal coatings were applied to the electrical control boards of each carrier.
