Essemtec will exhibit Swiss Made, highly flexible SMD placement systems for prototyping and low volumes at the upcoming SMTA Long Island Expo and Technical Forum, scheduled to take place September 21, 2011 at the Islandia Marriott Long Island in Islandia, NY. The EXPERT systems are equipped with fast clamping holder for double-sided PCBs, fatigue-free operation and an integrated microprocessor that controls all operations.
Production of today’s SMT boards for prototyping or small batches requires tools to ensure the highest quality standards. Essemtec’s EXPERT-LINE system provides these tools with a complete family of pick-and-place machines. With more than 2000 systems in daily use worldwide, the EXPERT-SAFP comes with most configuration features standard, including a micro adjust PCB holder (x, y, theta), microprocessor control, XY measurement system, interface and software, and many optional features including micro camera and prism QFP alignment system. The EXPERT-SAFP also boasts a 600-800 cph placement speed chip and a 100-200 cph placement speed IC.
The system is equipped with Essemtec’s patented pick-and-place head with air suspension. This unique feature allows for adjustable placement force, which results in precise placements even after long periods. The lightweight pantograph arm and the air suspended placement head allow for fast, accurate operation with almost no force.
Additionally, an integrated microprocessor controls all operations. Because of the EXPERT-SAFP‘s modularity, all functions are included within the electronics, making future upgrades possible. An LCD provides clear status about the operating mode of the system.
Additional benefits of the system include a smooth gliding arm system, integrated placement illumination, automatic component lowering to the PCB, and a glue and solder paste dispensing system. Available in both manual and semiautomatic models, the EXPERT-SAFP is able to place BGAs, CSPs and flip chips.
