Sovella designs and manufactures ergonomic industrial furniture such as work tables and work benches, shelving and cabinets, drawer units, manual assembly lines for various industries, homes and public buildings.

Treston Oy is acquiring the entire share capital of Sovella Oy. With the acquisition, Treston Oy is pursuing growth and a stronger position on the European markets.

The transaction merges two deeply rooted Finnish companies specialized in furniture and storage systems for industrial and technical environments in export markets. “The deal strengthens Treston’s aim to grow and to become the leading supplier of technical furniture in Europe,” says Treston Oy’s Managing Director Leo Saarikallio. Sovella Oy, which has its roots in the GWS Group, has solid experience in the design and manufacturing of industrial furniture and ergonomic workstations. The company’s headquarters and factory are located in Jyväskylä, Finland, and it employs nearly 140 people. Sovella’s product portfolio includes industrial furniture and manual transport systems for various industrial sectors and public facilities. Additionally, shelving and storage systems for the consumer market are manufactured under the Sovella@home brand. About half of Sovella’s production is exported.

Complementary product portfolios

Sovella’s industrial products and solutions are primarily intended for the more traditional workshop and repair shop environments, while Treston’s product focus is geared more towards lighter industry, such as assembly and electronics as well as the needs of research and product development facilities.

”The strengths and product portfolios of Treston and Sovella complement each other extremely well and strengthen our competitiveness. We believe that the business transaction will increase opportunities to significantly boost our sales growth,” comments Saarikallio. There are differences also in the international sales office network, so this will give an added boost to sales as well.

Operations continue unchanged

The operations of both Treston and Sovella will continue unchanged after this transaction. All Sovella personnel will continue with the company, with existing terms of employment. ”Sovella has long-term delivery agreements, and it is important for us to fulfil those agreements. Customers can trust that the good collaboration will continue in the future,” Saarikallio emphasizes.
