The Balver Zinn/Cobar Group announces that it will sponsor the First IPC APEX EXPO Hand Soldering Competition, scheduled to take place February 28-29, 2012 at the San Diego Convention Center in California.

During the two-day hand soldering competition, companies will compete to build a functional electronics assembly in 30 minutes. Assemblies will be judged on soldering in accordance with IPC-A-610E Class 3 criteria, the speed at which the assembly was produced and overall electrical functionality of assembly. IPC-A-610E Master Instructors will serve as the judges. The winner of the competition will move on to the Grand Championship, which will take place on Thursday, March 1, and will compete against the winner from the IPC Midwest Hand Soldering Competition.
