Following a year of successful product launches, MYDATA, the SMT business unit within Nasdaq OMX-listed Micronic Mydata AB, continues its drive to accelerate the success of electronics manufacturers worldwide. At the IPC APEX Expo show in San Diego (February 28 to March 1, Booth #3429) the company will show visitors how to Agilify their production with faster, smarter and more agile assembly solutions. Highlights include the new High Speed Synergy line rated at 90,000 cph, a highly advanced solution that enables any assembly environment to handle both prototyping and volume production - all within a single production line.

Fuelled by the successful thinking behind Agilify, MYDATA in 2011 reported a record 47 percent increase in system sales, including pick-and-place solutions as well as its stencil-free jet printers. “We see a huge need among electronics manufacturers to combine speed and flexibility into one smart, connected solution,” says Robert Göthner, Senior Vice President & General Manager. “We urge our customers to ‘Agilify’ their production in order to cope with the growing trend within the industry towards just-in-time production in higher mix environments.”

At the APEX show in Las Vegas in 2011, the company introduced its MY100e series of pick-and-place machines and enhanced in-line capability for package-on-package and flip-chip applications, which have subsequently been well received by the market. This year, in San Diego, these products will be complemented by the new Agilis Flex feeder for tape reels from 8 to 152 mm in width. Together with the new SMD Tower XL for larger reels, these comprehensive SMT solutions allow MYDATA customers to more efficiently handle any type of component on tape or stick, even in higher volume manufacturing environments.

At this year’s Apex, MYDATA will demonstrate this capacity with the company’s new High Speed Synergy line. Faster, more flexible and fully integrated with the company’s new product releases and industry-leading software, the solution will demonstrate the Agilify concept in action. The aim, says Brian Duffey, President of MYDATA Automation Inc., is to enable customers to handle high part number counts, a wide number of boards and unpredictable client demands - all very quickly, with zero changeover times. “The new solutions we’re introducing to the US market are all designed to help customers get inventory on and off of their machines more quickly and thus increase productivity levels,” says Duffy.

Despite an unpredictable market climate in the coming year, MYDATA says its product portfolio is well positioned to meet the market’s increasing needs for flexible, integrated systems supported by advanced software to ensure efficiency and eliminate waste. Robert Göthner concludes: “Our aim is to help our customers achieve new levels of agile manufacturing and intelligent production - all to accelerate their success.
