MYDATA recently announced the release of MYCenter 2.1, a next-generation software solution that helps to improve control and efficiency in SMT production. Further strengthening what is already one of the most comprehensive software suites in the industry, the solution offers SMT manufacturers a robust platform with three modules that can be integrated into all types of production environments.
“Modern electronic manufacturing is now highly automated,” explains Mattias Jonsson, Product Manager at MYDATA. “When operators and engineers spend more and more time on information management, they need smarter software solutions that reduce human error and streamline material handling.” According to Jonsson, MYCenter answers these challenges by offering a single user interface to track thousands of parts while handling constant engineering changes, component deliveries and machine program revisions. “MYCenter is the backbone for a smarter, more efficient factory,” he adds.
MYCenter 2.1 is part of the company’s on-going effort to offer customers the industry’s best integrated and most userfriendly software suite. It provides all the functionality of the company’s previous material handling software while adding a number of valuable enhancements and new features. The software’s three modules cover machine programming, data import and material handling, all unified into a newly redesigned user interface. “The new interface makes data easier to interpret and reduces the risk of errors,” says Jonsson. “It also allows you to multitask around a centralized set of data, which means there are literally no limitations to how many work stations can be used simultaneously.”
MYCenter’s machine programming module provides a live database connection, allowing multiple users to work in parallel with real-time overviews of machine libraries. Nozzle size, tape pitch and width and landing pad information can all be displayed, ensuring correct part handling, orientation and placement.
For data import tasks - one of the most difficult and error-prone areas in electronics manufacturing - MYCenter makes it possible to easily convert a customer’s bill-of-material (BoM) and Gerber data into ready-to-run machine programs. “To make this module as intuitive as possible,” Jonsson explains, “we developed it in close collaboration with experienced users who face different challenges and different types of input data every day. The result is an extremely powerful toolbox that allows you to extract position, rotation, part number and other data from virtually any combination of Gerber and text formats.”
For many electronics manufacturers, the most substantial time savings can be found in material handling processes. MYCenter’s material handling module increases accuracy by giving real-time information on every individual reel, stick and tray. This makes it possible to track each carrier’s exact location, quantity or feeding parameters as it is used in different parts of the factory. Used alone or integrated into an ERP system’s material database, the module aims to boost stock accuracy and purchase order precision by tracking individual reels instead of total quantity per part number.
Along with ERP connectivity and other integration possibilities, MYCenter 2.1 can be further enhanced with optional add-ons such as Proactive Replenishment Monitor (PRM) or automatic replenishment with MYDATA’s SMD Tower. “This flexibility makes it a powerful tool for eliminating errors and improving production efficiency in any environment,” says Jonsson. “In this way, MYCenter is exactly what our customers expect from us: a fully integrated application covering the entire range of SMT assembly.”
