Computrol, Inc., a world-class provider of mid- to low-volume, high-mix electronic manufacturing services to OEMs, today announced that it has purchased and installed a SPEA 4050 Flying Probe Tester. The addition of the SPEA flying probe at Computrol’s Meridian, ID facility further strengthens the company’s extensive functional test capabilities. Features of the SPEA 4050 include:

  • SPEA's fastest ever probe speed with XYZ linear motors

  • Super accurate Micro-SMD probing with XYZ linear optical encoders

  • Exceptional measurement accuracy with the revolutionary measurement on probe

  • Unmatched probing flexibility with Multi-Jig technology

  • Flexible board loading in line, manual & automated options

  • Advanced test capabilities including LED Test, 3D Laser Test, Hi-res AOI, 4 x OBP

Since we have installed the SPEA 4050, we have already realized improvements in test coverage,” said James Spencer, Engineering Manager for Computrol. “The new probe is much more accurate, faster and is equipped with the soft touch option to keep from leaving probe marks.”

SPEA’s new Leonardo Express operating system offers easy and fast test generation with a guided test program development feature. Other tools to simplify the development process include Automatic Debug to reduce test development time and Program Tuning to ensure stable test results.
