Libra Industries’ Christopher R. Howell Memorial Foundation Awards $22,500 in Scholarships during Its 11th Annual Golf Outing

Libra Industries, a privately held electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, recently sponsored the Christopher R. Howell Memorial Foundation’s 11th Annual Golf Outing at the Kirtland Country Club. During the event, Libra Industries’ CEO Rod Howell awarded three scholarships totaling $22,500. The scholarships were awarded as follows:

Breakthrough Charter School Scholarship – John Zitzner, President at Friends of Breakthrough Schools, accepted the $10,000 scholarship on behalf of the organization. Breakthrough Schools, the highest-rated network of free, non-profit, public charter schools in Cleveland, Ohio. Breakthrough Charter School’s mission is to provide sustainable, high-quality public schools throughout Cleveland, ensuring all students have access to a public, free, outstanding college preparatory education. The schools have been recognized as the best performing schools in Cleveland, honored by local, state, and national organizations for excellence in teaching, leadership, and student achievement.

Libra Employee Family Scholarship – Shirley Banh (daughter two of Libra Industries’ Dallas associates) received a $2500 scholarship. The fifth annual Libra family scholarship is available to any Libra employee or family member. It can be used for any type of continuing education.

Christopher R. Howell Memorial Foundation College Scholarship – Jacob Knox (student of Kirtland High School) scholarship. The Christopher R. Howell Memorial Foundation awards scholarships to graduating seniors of Kirtland High School who have demonstrated strength of character and a desire to succeed both in and out of the classroom. The Foundation was established as a memorial to Christopher R. Howell, a Kirtland resident whose unconditional love and compassion for children left a mark on all who came in contact with him. Chris passed away in 2001 at the age of 38. He was the VP of Libra Industries for 21 years at the time of his death. For more information about the Christopher R.
