Averatek Wins Mexico Technology Award for New Aluminum Soldering Product

Nov 07, 2021

Averatek is pleased to announce that it received a 2021 Mexico Technology Award in the category of Chemistries for its new Mina™ chemistry.  The award was announced during a ceremony that took place Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021 during SMTA International in Minneapolis, MN.

“Bringing this new capability to the market has been exciting!” says Haris Basit, CEO of Averatek. “Mina™ allows manufacturers to harness the extreme cost and weight benefits of aluminum interconnects in a practical manner for a variety of applications. These applications range from high-reliability automotive and medical products to very cost-sensitive, high-volume products such as RFIDs.”

Mina™ allows for replacing silver-based ACP (Anisotropic Conductive Paste) with solder, for higher reliability at lower cost.  The pretreatment harnesses the advantages of aluminum over copper: same conductivity as copper at half the weight – for a small fraction of the expense.

Manufacturing is more environmentally friendly than traditional processes, as Mina™ also eliminates the steps required for surface finishes on aluminum and shortens processing time. There are multiple applications for Mina™, including RFID mass production, LED lighting panels and power electronics.

Averatek Corporation licenses its Mina™ chemistry to select EMS companies. To utilize this unique assembly process, they work closely with the Averatek engineering team for implementation. Ongoing technical and marketing support is part of this exclusive program.

The Mexico Technology Awards acknowledge the latest innovations available in Mexico produced by OEM manufacturing equipment and materials suppliers during the last 12 months. For more information, visit www.mexicoems.com/mta-awards.
