Teltronics (OTC Bulletin Board: TELT) announced today the receipt of a six-position Public Safety Answering Point order worth over a quarter of a million dollars from Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, which includes the city of Lake Charles. Joining forces with their newest 911 partner Intrado (Nasdaq: TRDO) Teltronics provided a total communication package consisting of software and hardware upgrades and a four-year extended maintenance contract.

Ewen Cameron proclaims, "The Calcasieu Parish Emergency Communications District has worked with Teltronics in the past for both administrative telephone usage and older-generation 911 equipment. With this additional order, we were able to upgrade the system and provide support directly from the manufacturer. We also added one of our Site Event Buffers, (SEB) to the system so that faults are monitored on a 7x24 basis. This order reaffirms our strategy to offer valuable solutions to our existing E911 base all over the United States, both through direct sales and through our distribution channel."

According to Robert Martin, Executive Director, Calcasieu Parish Emergency Communications District, "We receive 11,000 emergency calls per month and this number will double to 250,000 per year when Sheriff's Dispatch comes on line. We were rated as the sixth largest wireless market in the country and Phase 1 calls are at 35% and growing fast; therefore, we needed a system that could handle the increase call volume and was Phase 2 compliant." Martin continues, "We were very pleased with our older Teltronics switch so when Teltronics partnered with Intrado, we exercised the opportunity to upgrade to the latest features and functions with almost zero impact on our operations and at a very reasonable cost."
