In a special episode of Indium Corporation’s free webcast series EV InSIDER Live, co-hosts Brian O’Leary and Loren McDonald will interview Darren Palmer, Vice President, Electric Vehicle Programs, Ford Model e, on the floor of The Detroit Auto Show. This unique session, titled How Ford is Driving the EV Revolution: An Exclusive Interview, will be broadcast live via LinkedIn on September 14, 11:30 a.m. EDT.
As the industry transitions to electric vehicles, Ford has made it clear it intends to be an EV leader - targeting to reach 600,000 annual production units of EVs by next year. With highly acclaimed EV models, including the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E, a re-organization into two divisions—Blue™ for internal combustion engine vehicles and Model e™ for EVs—the company is well positioned for a future dominated by batteries rather than pistons.
“It is a tremendous privilege to sit down with Darren, as Loren and I look forward to covering a wide range of topics with him,” said O’Leary, Indium Corporation’s Global Head of e-Mobility and Infrastructure, and chair of IPC’s e-Mobility and Quality & Reliability Advisory Council. “Together we will cover an important announcement from Ford and then discuss its next generation platform coming in 2025, battery development, scaling production, bi-directional charging, software and OTAs, autonomy, EV model pipeline, and differences between the North American and European markets.”
Prior to his current position, Palmer was general manager, Ford Electric Vehicles, responsible for leading the EV business in North America, including implementing a $50 billion transformation of the EV portfolio. Previously, Palmer was a founding member of Team Edison, an internal start-up created to determine where to play and how to win in electric vehicles. Since joining Ford, Palmer has amassed significant experience in global vehicle development, having held positions in Product Development, Product Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality in the U.K., Germany, United States, and through regular global travel to South America, China, India, and Australia. Palmer holds an MBA from Henley Management College, England, an Electrical, Electronics and Technology Degree from Birmingham University in England, and is a Member of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET).
