Grand United Holdings Bhd, which is incorporated in the Federation of Malaya, said its wholly-owned unit MC Industry Sdn Bhd plans to invest an additional US$4 million in its China PCB manufacturing subsidiary, according to an AFX-ASIA report by Maria Khong, dated February 12, 2003 (dateline Kuala Lumpur).
According to the AFX-ASIA report, Grand United has said that MC Industry would increase its equity investment in its wholly-owned unit in China, Grand Circuit Industry (Suzhou) Co., to a total of US$13 million, in order to facilitate Grand Circuit's commercial production of higher-end PCBs, notably double-sided boards.
Grand United Holdings' electronic division, Grand Circuit Industry Sdn. Bhd & Grand Circuit Industry (Suzhou) Co. Ltd., is "optimistic of doubling its turnover in three years by focusing on its core business and areas of competencies as well as materializing its mission of emerging as the No. 1 PCB supplier in Malaysia and a leading PCB manufacturer in South East Asia," according to the Group's website.
Grand Circuit Industry Sdn. Bhd & Grand Circuit Industry (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. together contribute more than 75% of the Group�s total turnover and bottom line figure. The electronic division manufactures PCBs for consumer, communication, computer and IT-related products manufactured by world- renowned suppliers such as Action, BENQ (Acer), JVC, Kenwood, LG, Matsushita, Motorola, Philips, Sony, Sharp, Samsung, Thomson and Yamaha.
