Electronics Workbench Taps Industry Talent as New Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Mar 04, 2003

TORONTO - February 28, 2003 -- Electronics Workbench announces the appointment of Mr. Ian Suttie, P. Eng., to the position of vice president of sales and marketing. Suttie will be instrumental in developing global sales and marketing strategies to support the company's continued growth in the mainstream, professional printed circuit board (PCB) design market.

Bill Wignall, president of Electronics Workbench, comments on the appointment, "We are pleased to have Ian join our executive team. His direct experience leading high-growth companies, as well as his understanding of our market and customers, will help him identify and develop aggressive programs that support our expansion efforts."

Says Mr. Suttie, "I am excited to join Electronics Workbench now, as the company has a strong forward momentum and high energy that I can help channel into worldwide success. My broad background in sales and marketing, combined with a 'user's perspective' of EDA will prove invaluable as we develop a comprehensive worldwide distribution network and drive further into the professional EDA space."

Before to joining Electronics Workbench, Suttie was chief operating officer at PCI Geomatics during one of that company's largest growth cycles. Suttie joined PCI Geomatics following considerable success as president and CEO of Waterloo Maple, Inc., a global supplier of mathematical software to the education market. Previous to that, he was president of SST, a leading supplier of industrial networking equipment. During his three-year tenure as president of SST, Suttie contributed to substantial revenue growth and led the company's expansion into Europe and Southeast Asia. Prior to his appointment to president, Suttie spent several years as vice president of sales and marketing for SST where he achieved considerable success developing a worldwide distributor network.

In addition to his direct management experience, Mr. Suttie has served as a director of several private companies, industry associations, and standards organizations. He brings more than 15 years of experience in sales, marketing, and executive management to his new position.

Mr. Suttie holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Bachelor of Engineering Science degree from the University of Western Ontario, and is a registered professional engineer.
