Electropac Canada Inc., located in Montreals West Island Community of Pointe-Claire, recently purchased and installed a new DP-1500-2X Dual-Sided Photoimageable Ink Coater from Circuit Automation. A cost effective innovation in soldermask technology, this machine reduces set up and cycle times, increases yields and significantly improves process repeatability, reliability and capabilities.
The DP-1500 allows a complete changeover of panel size and ink in less than 10 minutes, and provides uniform coverage, without skips or bubbles, on traces as high as nine mils. In addition, the machines simultaneous dual-sided coating eliminates side-to-side variation and controls thickness in a variety of coatings e.g., BGA boards, which require a thick, consistent and flat surface, can be coated to the desired thickness of soldermask with one pass.
During coating, panels are pinned in place and tensioned so that even thin boards are held rigidly and soldermask or other screenable materials can be evenly applied. The DP-1500s unique positioning system also allows the machine to reposition panels between coating cycles or even between print strokes.
Far more efficient than curtain coating or spray coating, the DP-1500 screen-printing system can coat almost twice as much surface area with the same amount of material as other processes, dramatically reducing cost and waste.
